Social/Cause Marketing for Public Health

Compelling Tourism Marketing
Challenge: Boston’s tourism and hospitality sector was devastated by COVID-19, with hotel occupancy dropping to 14% and restaurant traffic down over 70%. The city needed a campaign to revive
tourism, support small businesses, and change Boston’s reputation as an exclusive destination.
Solution: Colette Phillips Communications (CPC), in partnership with Proverb and the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, launched the “All Inclusive Boston” campaign. This initiative showcased Boston’s diversity, highlighted minority-owned businesses, and promoted neighborhoods often overlooked by tourists. The campaign used integrated digital marketing, video storytelling, influencer engagement, and partnerships with local media to create a welcoming narrative for all visitors.
Result: The campaign generated 57 million impressions, 1 million video views, and a 400% increase in
web traffic, driving visitors to explore Boston’s neighborhoods and supporting small businesses during recovery. It successfully positioned Boston as an inclusive, vibrant destination and became a model for equitable tourism marketing.
